Singlepin – Dating & Meeting New Singles Just Got More Exciting!
I love Twitter, it allows you to connect with people far easier than any other platform out there. Some of the people and companies that I’ve had the pleasure of talking to, since starting out this site just 2 months ago, are just amazing. Singlepin is no different.
When @getsinglepin started following me this week I jumped over to their site to see what they have to offer (as I do with pretty much every new follower if they have a site or blog listed). What I saw on offer was quite remarkable. Remarkable for two reasons;
1) The pure simplicity of their product.
2) How incredibly beautiful the Singlepin product is.
Having browsed their site for some time and read about what they thought they could bring to singletons in the UK I thought I’d drop them a line to find out if they were interested in a short interview to tell me more. Luckily for us both they were more than happy to oblige and the interview follows below

What is Singlepin and how does it work?
Singlepin was designed to be a symbol of real-life connection and a welcome return to more traditional ways of meeting people. People wear Singlepin to represent their single status as well as their belief in meeting people by more natural means. In terms of how it works, simply pin it to your coat, lapel, dress, shirt, bag, etc, and once pinned it will act as a talking point for like-minded people within the ‘offline’ dating community. Because the product is so unique we’re finding that when people do spot someone wearing the pin, they become particularly excited and can’t help but engage in conversation with one another.
Who came up with the idea and what problem were they trying to solve?
Artist Dianne Harris came up with the concept as well as the design itself. The intention is to offer a viable alternative to tiresome online dating practices. Time and time again we hear of people having bad experiences with online dating and still they persist with expensive memberships and countless time-wasters. We want people to realise that it’s ok to take a step back from online dating regardless of its popularity and that there are other ways to meet people.
How much are Singlepins and how many styles are available?
We offer Singlepins with two different stones at present. Onyx is the symbol of confidence and strength. Amethyst is the ancient stone of love.

How many Singlepins have been sold to date?
I couldn’t tell you the exact number off the top of my head but I believe we’ve sold enough to fill a small football stadium haha.
Do you have any customers that have been back in touch having found “the one”? We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive feedback we’ve received and only time will tell if they’ve found the one! The way times have changed it’s easy to feel like online dating is being shoved in our faces a little and frankly, it seems like people are finally fed up and in genuine need of an online alternative.
What top tips would you give to new customers?
Wear it for the right reasons, wear it with pride, and always remain open-minded. With online dating, you are restricted to one site and its individual users, whereas with Singlepin the world is your oyster. You just never know where you’ll find love with Singlepin and I guess that’s the beauty of it.
Do you hold any Singlepin events? (If not, you really should!)
This is something we are planning as we speak – there will be an event in Bristol next month and one in London in June. Watch this space!
I notice from your site that you support the BHF, what made you choose that particular charity?
It was really important to us that if we went ahead with the concept we would involve some kind of contribution to a worthy cause. Given the obvious connotations, The British Heart Foundation was the first that came to mind and given the fantastic work they do we didn’t think twice.
